Anita phoned me in the dead of night. I was nearby – easier to make good on my promise.

See, I owed her a pound of flesh. Her introduction to Olaf was my mistake. Now he had reappeared on her fucking doorstep.

When I arrived, her place was blood-soaked. Animal-like sounds creeped from the next room.

She was beneath him on a table; blood running over like linen.

My 9mm struck home.

I pulled her into my arms. She was fading fast. But I think she clearly saw everything I’d kept hidden from her – even my heart.

Secrets I regret keeping...
