Peter stood just outside the aged adobe that sat alone on BlackLodge Road. Nine years had passed since he’d last seen Ted Forrester, the man once meant to be his stepfather.

Just after Ted left, Peter had left too, at sixteen. All the darkness that Donna had tried too hard to protect him from was out there for the taking.

Now Peter stood before the blue-violet door, bags in-tow, wondering if it still belonged to the only man in this world ruined enough to be called his true father.

For precautionaries sake, he cocked his Beretta before ringing the doorbell.
